Here's How Fanaticon Works

1. Learn the rules

We're looking for videos that prove you are the Ultimate Transformers Fan. But what's a contest without rules? Follow ours and you will compete successfully.

Here's the gist of what you need to know. See Official Rules for full details.

  • No swearing, no naked people, nothing too violent or offensive.
  • You must be 18 years or older and a legal resident of the United States and DC.
  • Your video must be in English.
  • You can shoot your video any way you like, but the final version must be in one of the following formats: .mpg, .mp4, .mov, .flv, .avi, .wmv.
  • The maximum file size for video file(s) is 100 MB.
  • You need to keep the video under 3 minutes.
  • Your video must be uploaded by 6:00 p.m. Pacific Time ("PT") on April 27, 2007.
  • Videos may be submitted on this site in the "Upload Video" section beginning 12:01 p.m. PT on March 26, 2007.

*Note to participants: The audio for your video may automatically fade out at the end of your Jumpcut movie submission. If you don't want this effect, click here to learn more about how to eliminate it.

2. Make your video

Maybe you have the entire collection of Transformers action figures. Maybe you quote Optimus Prime. Maybe you and your friends like to act out scenes from the Transformers cartoons. Whatever it is, if it proves you're the Ultimate Transformers Fan, film it. Use your camcorder, the video function on your digital camera or get out your animation equipment.

When you're done, you can upload your raw footage and edit it online with Jumpcut or use your own editing tools and upload your video when finished - whatever you prefer. Sound and video clips from the new Transformers film and video game have been provided by Paramount and Activision for you to use in your video. The clips are available for free in the Jumpcut movie editor. You can also go to Yahoo! Games to download all the video game clips directly to your computer for use with personal editing equipment.

3. Upload your video

After you made your video, you'll want to upload it to this site so it can have a chance to win. You can also upload raw footage of your video shoot and edit it online. Uploading is easy, but here are a few things to keep in mind.

  • Submit as many as 10 entries.
  • There is a 100 MB limit on individual files.
  • When publishing your video, remember to mark it as "Private - Not Remixable." This will prevent others from remixing your video.
  • Your video needs to be screened by the sponsor before it will show up in the gallery. As long as it meets the standards outlined in the Official Rules, it will be posted within a couple of days. Make sure you have read and understand the Official Rules - this is a contest, and the decisions of the judges are final.
  • Make sure you keep a master copy of your video.
