Best Green Project
Winner: Chesley Electric of Park City, Utah
Lutron’s wired Maestro switches and astronomical time clock programming were used to reduce the energy consumption of this home’s roof snow melt system, saving the client an average of $2,600 a month in energy costs during the winter season. Once the client discovered how much energy he could save on the outside of his home, he focused on his interior energy consumption. All of the lights in the residence were changed to dimmable LEDs and motion sensors were employed. These actions saved the client over $7,000 in electrical bills and saved the environment 52,000 Kilowatts of power last year. Congratulations! |

Best Retrofit Project Using RF Products
Winner: Technical Comfort of Newport Beach, California
RF control was needed across the entire property, from the estate built with 10-inch concrete and steel floors, to the freestanding guesthouse, to the end of the 60-foot dock. Three P5 processors and six power modules were used to wirelessly control every possible interior and exterior lighting zone on the property. Congratulations!

Best Total Light Control Project
Winner: Visual Acoustics of Miami Beach, Florida
Visual Acoustics was tasked with controlling all of the electronic-low-voltage, magnetic-low-voltage, incandescent, LED and fluorescent lighting used in this 7000 square foot home. To accomplish this task, three dimming panels, five shading power panels, an auxiliary power panel and two interfaces were used in the system.
The high-end design of the home allowed for many unique light control applications. When the door to the third floor pool deck is opened, a “Welcome” scene is set to activate between sunrise and sunset, ensuring that no resident finds himself or herself walking into a dark space. In the great room, roman shades provide control of the natural light supplied from 26, 12-foot high windows that form two of the four great-room walls.
The client also requested the ability to adjust the lights in the home prior to his arrival. To accommodate this request, Visual Acoustics activated the web utility on several keypads, configured the network for remote access and forwarded the homeowner a link to his Lutron system’s web interface which he can access from anywhere in the world. Congratulations! |

Best Shade Project
Winner: Ogren Electronics of Eagle River, Wisconsin
Sivoia QED shades and complementary manual shades were used in this vacation home on the northern peninsula of Michigan. Because the area experiences extreme cold weather and the home has large windows, it made sense to use automated window treatments as part of the light control system for both energy savings and UV protection. To accommodate the varying window heights, the shades are programmed to lower in sequence. The tallest shade starts descending and as it reaches the level of the next shade, the second set of shades starts lowering, creating a dramatic effect. Congratulations!

Most Unique Application
Winner: Gramophone of North Shore, Maryland
The homeowner requested a simple one-button solution to manage their Lutron light control system as well as their audio/video system. Gramophone met this request by purchasing a Staples "Easy" button and integrating it with the system. Pressing the "Easy" button turns the lights on to the homeowners' preferred level and the radio on to their favorite station. Pressing the "Easy" button a second time, turns the system off. The client liked this solution so much, they requested the same setup in their country house. Congratulations!

Best International Project
Winner: Equram Licht Grup of Romania
This modern residence exclusively uses LED lighting. Controlled by a HomeWorks system, the LEDs display 50 sequencing custom colors that are programmed to change every one to three minutes. The timeclock function controls lighting scenes throughout the day depending on daylight levels. Mood scenarios were designed to set the tone and color for any occasion. Congratulations! |

Best Integration with Third-Party Equipment
Winner: Home Control Solutions of Santa Barbara, California
This job has over 300 zones of light and 55 shades. The architect requested that satin chrome seeTouch keypads control the stereo, fireplaces, fire pits, heaters, and steam shower, in addition to the lights and shades.
To meet this and other requests, Home Control Solutions created a unique weatherproof keypad for use outdoors, reworked a Sivoia QED drapery track to move a 100 pound piece of artwork and programmed a single keypad to control 36,000 watts of ceiling heaters on an exterior breezeway -- all at the touch of a button. Congratulations! |

Best Showroom/Experience Center
Winner: Starr Systems Design of Baltimore, Maryland
Starr Systems Design was faced with the challenge of converting a warehouse space into a residential experience center. Through a well thought-out design, they were able to create a showroom that features products such as Lutron’s Sivoia QED roller shades, Sivoia QED drapery tracks and a complete 8-Series HomeWorks System in a residential setting. The space is used to demonstrate concepts such as effective use of light control solutions from interior lighting, to sheer shading and blackout draperies, as well as the aesthetic opportunities available with high-end products. The showroom also serves as a venue for events such as educational seminars and customer appreciation events. Congratulations!

Best Use of Light Control in a Home Theater
Winner: La Scala of Canada
The homeowner’s goal was to create an over-the-top home cinema experience for their family and friends, complete with a starlight ceiling and high impact appearance. La Scala created several lighting scenes accessible through a seeTouch keypad or AMX touchscreen. Specialty scenes include gentle lighting for step identification, starlight twinkle, dramatic entrance and safety dimming during intermission for clear exit and entry. Congratulations! |
